Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has officially entered a bold new expansion phase in Thailand. At a launch event held at Chatrium Riverside Bangkok, MOONTON Games introduced the MLBB Super League (MSL) Thailand and revealed the 2026 MLBB Thailand Esports Roadmap, formally bringing the country back into the center of MLBB’s global esports ecosystem. The move forms part of the publisher’s five-region ecosystem overhaul, with Thailand positioned as a leading example of how a local scene can be strengthened for global competition.

For years, Thailand has been known for its deep gaming passion and competitive potential. Now, that energy is being matched with structure, investment, and a clear pathway to the world stage.
🕹️ A Sleeping Giant Finally Wakes Up
To put it simply, Thailand’s mobile gaming scene has been a sleeping giant — and it just rolled out of bed. MOONTON Games began investing in the Thai market in the second half of 2024, and the response has been anything but quiet.
Wei Guo, Head of Game Publishing, Thailand, at MOONTON Games, said: “Our mission is to bring thrilling games to players. Based on this core mission, we have started investing in Thailand since the second half of 2024, and realized that MLBB can bring new experiences to Thailand, as also proven by the game topping the game charts on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in October last year.”

The numbers did the talking. In October last year, MLBB dominated major gaming charts across the country, fueled by strong support from players, content creators, and local partners. GuyNgid, a well-known gaming creator and now MLBB Thailand’s strategy partner, has continued to help connect the game with local communities.

Beyond the community buzz, MLBB Thailand is planning a packed calendar of activities, including global IP collaborations, the game’s 10th anniversary celebration, and the Golden Month campaign.
🏆 MSL Thailand: A League Built for the Long Run
The launch of MSL Thailand is more than just a new tournament. It is designed to close the structural gaps that once made it difficult for Thai talent to sustain and scale.
Hao Zhen Siew, Head of MLBB Esports, Thailand, at MOONTON Games, explained: “What was missing over time were structural links that allow talent to sustain and scale. We identified three key gaps: a consistent professional league that teams could plan around, clear long-term pathways for players and staff, and a stable connection to MLBB’s global competitive esports calendar. MSL Thailand addresses these gaps by providing continuity, professionalism, and direct integration into the global ecosystem, which is why now is the right time.”
He added: “Bridging the gap is about systems and sustainability, not just individual results. Closer integration with international competition also gives Thai teams consistent benchmarks to measure progress and adapt.”

MSL Thailand will officially kick off on 18 April 2026 at Lido Connect. The Regular Season will run for five weeks of high-stakes competition, welcoming both online fans and offline spectators. The inaugural league features eight invited teams: FULL SENSE, Bacon Time, Buriram United Esports, SOLYX, eArena, Tenacity, Hydra, and King of Gamers Club. They will be joined by ACT Esports Club and Valee Thai Esports, the two teams that emerged victorious from the MSL Thailand Open Qualifiers.
To support long-term ecosystem development, the league is introducing THB 10 million in incentives for teams each season, tied to the prize pool and team and community development initiatives. Long story short, the league is giving organizations a real reason to invest in fans, branding, and community engagement.
🌏 Thailand’s Pathway to the Global Stage
Thailand’s competitive route is built to move local talent from domestic play to the world’s biggest arenas.
-
The MSL Thailand champion will earn a place at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the Esports World Cup 2026, starting in the MSC Wild Card Stage.
-
The second-place team will compete in the MLBB Challenge Cup Mekong (MCCM) alongside teams from Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Laos, and Brunei. The MCCM champion will also secure a slot in the MSC Wild Card at EWC26.
-
The new MLBB Women’s International (MWI) Thailand Qualifiers will decide Thailand’s representative for the MWI at the Esports World Cup 2026. The winning team will first compete in the MCCM qualifiers, with a chance to advance to the MWI Main Stage.
Beyond domestic competition, the MLBB Championship Tour (MCT): Southeast Asia (SEA) will serve as the region’s official championship and qualification pathway to the M World Championship, including M8. Thailand has also been announced as the host of the M8 World Championship Wild Card Stage.
Tiger Xu, Global Head of MLBB Esports at MOONTON Games, said: “MSL Thailand represents more than just the launch of a league—it is the foundation of Thailand’s integration into MLBB’s global competitive ecosystem. Through the MCT: SEA Tour, Thai teams now have a clear pathway from local competition to the world stage. This structure ensures that Southeast Asia’s strongest teams earn their place internationally, and we believe Thailand will play an important role in shaping the next chapter of MLBB esports.”
🤝 A New Foundation for Thai Esports
Team owners and industry stakeholders have welcomed MSL Thailand as a long-awaited step toward sustainability. For many organizations, the league is more than a competition; it creates the structure, stability, and global connections needed to compete at the highest level.
Sattawat Intrayut, Team Owner of King of Gamers Club, called the league a breakthrough moment for the local MOBA scene. He said: “In the mobile MOBA industry in Thailand, we haven’t had a global-scale game like this before.” Phongpanod Rueangarrirat, Co-owner and player of King of Gamers Club, added: “Our country has a strong esports industry, and with MLBB, we can do something great. I hope people see us at M8 and international competitions as well.”
Chotchanok Chidchob, Team Owner of Buriram United Esports, pointed to the value of opportunity and structure. He said: “The main thing is the pathway. There are more opportunities for Thai esports athletes to follow their dreams and eventually reach global events. Thailand is ready to take this opportunity, and now there’s finally a league that leads to a world-class championship.”

Infinix, a global smartphone brand, has joined MSL Thailand as an official partner, while Richman Shop, a leading digital gaming top-up platform, has signed on as a brand partner. With these partnerships and a clearer competitive framework, Thailand’s MLBB journey is no longer just about catching up. It is about building a sustainable ecosystem that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world.

If the foundation holds, Thailand’s next era in MLBB esports may not simply be about returning to the world stage — it may be about redefining its place on it.
